First stop today was the Zaisan Memorial, high on a hill overlooking the city. The climb was 300 steps. We all made it to the top.
The memorial honors allied Mongolian and Soviet soldiers killed in World War II. It looks very Russian in style.

Nearby was a small glass bridge connecting the base of the memorial to a building.
From there we went to the Bogd Khan Winter Palace (also called the Green Palace). The architecture was very much in the Asian style we have seen around much of east Asia. It was built in the late 1800’s for the Bogd Khan, the Ruler of Mongolia.
Then we visited the Dinosaur Museum. In the 1920’s dinosaur fossils and dinosaur egg fossils were discovered in Mongolia. Much of this museum focuses on the dinosaurs…
although it also covers a lot of other Mongolian animals and nature.
Lunch time.
After lunch we headed back to Sukbaatar Square where there were Naadam related ceremonies. Awards and honors were presented,
